J.H. NEWMAN SCHOOL

Once again, Colegio Internacional J.H. Newman has been recognised in the press as one of the schools with the best results in the PAU university entrance exams. On this occasion, the newspaper El Mundo has reported on it.

We are sincerely grateful for this recognition and proud of these results. However, we would like to remember that this figure, while valuable, does not by itself define the meaning or scope of our educational proposal. Rather, it is the consequence of everything that takes place day by day at the school: our educational model and, above all, our main objective, which is to accompany each student in their integral human growth.

We believe that a grade should not be the only criterion for measuring educational success, but rather the reflection of an authentic, profound and meaningful formative experience.

It is also important to highlight that at Colegio Newman we do not train students for the PAU; we prepare our students to open themselves up to the world, to grow as people, to develop their freedom and responsibility, and to become true protagonists of their future.

These recent figures show the positive and continually improving progress the school is experiencing. This is very significant news which acts as objective recognition of the work we have done at the school for 20 years and that shows that our educational proposal obtained suitable and optimal results. The news that we are ranked among the 16 schools with higher marks in Madrid, can be further enhanced by noting that we are also one of the schools with the highest percentage of students taking the Spanish university entrance exam (EvAU), with a 100% pass rate and  96-98% of our students sitting the exam.

However, we emphasise that the dignity and the strength of Newman School’s proposal cannot be reduced to university entrance ranking. To do so would be to dimish its true greatness which goes far beyond this: enabling each student to realise their abilities and talents, to grow and develop as a human being, to understand the value of their own life, to explore different fields of knowledge, and to remain open to caring for the world and for the common good. This human journey is far richer and larger than a fact, or university entrance ranking can express.   

For all these reasons, we are grateful to see the fruits of this educational journey that we have been following for more than 20 years. A fruit that is also reflected in the very high number of families who, once again this academic year, have placed their trust in Colegio Newman as the place for their children’s education in this latest admissions process.

Without a doubt, this is a shared achievement: by the teaching staff, the students and the entire educational community.
